DANA and Cilla Black duet on the Carpenters biggest selling single Yesterday Once More (1973). DANA only recorded two of their hits, There's a Kind of Hush and Rainy Days and Mondays, so this performance is a collectors item. It's from the BBC1 TV series "Cilla" that ran from 1968-1976. Broadcast date was Saturday 21 February 1976. It seems like only yesterday. Once more, DANA is on top form, and had to be because she was performing with a singer who could do this: • Cilla Black - Anyone Who Had A Heart ...
When I was young I'd listen to the radio
Waiting for my favourite song
When they played I'd sing along
It made me smile
Those were such happy times and not so long ago
How I wondered where they'd gone
Now they're back again just like a long-lost friend
All those songs we loved so well
Every sha-la-la-la, every wo-o-wo-o
Still shines, still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling that they're starting to sing
So fine, so fine
When it gets to the part
Where he's breaking her heart
It can really make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more
Shoo be do lang lang
Shoo be do lang lang
Looking back on how it was in years gone by
And the good times that we had
Makes today seem rather sad
So much has changed
It was songs of love that I would sing to then
And I'd memorise each word
Those old melodies still sound so good to me
As they melt the years away
Every sha-la-la-la, every wo-o-wo-o
Still shines, still shines
Every shing-a-ling-a-ling that they're starting to sing
So fine, so fine
All my best memories
Come back clearly to me
Some can even make me cry
Just like before
It's yesterday once more
Shoo be do lang lang
It's yesterday once more
Shoo be do lang lang
It's yesterday once more
