One of the first upgrades or additions to my onefinity CNC is an adjustable fence that I can use to align work pieces to the machine’s x-axis. Using a off cut of 1/4 birch plywood I cut three slots and put three corresponding threaded inserts into the spoil board. Using some star knobs (I also milled out on the machine) I can now adjust the fence, take a quick pass with the machine to true up the fence and start my layout with things set perfectly square to the machine. If it ever gets moved or dinged up I can easily slide it slightly forward and true up the edge again. This is my first CNC so I didn’t know if this is an essential first upgrade but it is the first upgrade I made.
