The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is an Armed Force under Ministry of Defence and works in close cooperation with the Indian Navy, the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Revenue (Customs) and the Central and State police forces to protect India's maritime interests and enforces its maritime law in coastal regions of India.
Recruitment in Indian Coast Guard is through following entries:
(1) Assistant Commandant
(2) YANTRIK (Diploma Holders)
(3) NAVIK (General Duty)
(4) NAVIK (Domestic Branch)
Charter of Duties:
1. Enforcement of Maritime Laws in Force.
2. Safety of Life and Property at Sea.
3. Preservation and Protection of Marine Environment.
4. Prevention and Control of Marine Pollution.
5. Assisting the Customs.
