Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former lead singer Tarja Turunen. Since then many members have been a part of the band including: Jukka Nevalainen, Sami Vänskä, Anette Olzon, Marko Hietala, Floor Jansen, Troy Donockley, Kai Hahto, and Jukka Koskinen

The band has seen them have a few singers over the years including:

Tarja Turunen (1996 - 2005) on albums Angels Fall First (1997), Oceanborn (1998), Wishmaster (2000), Century Child (2002), and Once (2004).

Anette Olzon (2007 - 2012) on albums Dark Passion Play (2007) and Imaginaerum (2011).

Floor Jansen (2013 - current) on albums Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015), Human. :II: Nature. (2020), and Yesterwynde (2024)

Plus Marko Hietala (2002 - 2021)

Troy Donockley (2013 - current)

and even Tuomas himself did some vocals on their first couple albums.
