It was a warm, muggy evening at the Bowl as we settled in for a night of extraordinary emotional range from the genius that is simply known as Sondheim.

Steven Joshua Sondheim - a musical and lyrical genius- was an American composer and lyricist. Regarded as one of the most important figures in 20th-century musical theater, he is credited for reinventing the American musical

It was as if the weather gods were playing along knowing the only way to truly appreciate Sondheim is in a hot, humid amphitheater. Oh but what a glorious night it was!

Featuring the incomparable talents of six of Broadway’s vocal greats, we were truly treated to an incredible journey of sight and sound.

Together for just one special night were:

Skyler Astin
Sierra Boggess
Sutton Foster
Norm Lewis
Brian Stokes Mitchell
and...
Patty LuPone

Kevin Stites was the conductor and shared the curator role with Robert Longbottom.

Also joining on stage behind the orchestra was a chorus from Cal State Fullerton who helped create an incredible show.

A perfect setting for a truly sublime show. An evening of joy, emotional highs and lows, but at the end it was pure bliss.

And I’ll drink to that!

I hope you enjoy these highlights from the show! And do pay close attention to the remarkable lighting and projected images on the shell of the bowl. Bravo!!!
