A longtime and iconic feature of downtown Omaha, Gene Leahy Mall was started as the Central Park Mall in the 1970s. In the 1990s, it was renamed Gene Leahy Mall after former Omaha Mayor Eugene A. Leahy.

In 2019, the park was redesign was started, raising the park up to street level and adding a number of new features including a performance pavilion for live music, a sculpture garden filled with interesting works of art, a state-of-the-art playground and a modern dog park. It reopened at the beginning of July 2022.

In conjunction with Omaha MECA, we shot these videos on the opening weekend—both day and night—including Sunday, July 3rd and Monday, July 4th. Sunday night included a drama performance and the Omaha Symphony on Monday night. (There will be an upcoming separate video of the Independence Day fireworks as seen from the park.)
