Subaru Forester Wiper Blade Replacement

While driving my wife's 2018 Subaru Forester during a light rain, I noticed the passenger-side windshield wiper blade was starting to disintegrate. I saw a thin flap of the rubber insert near the end of the blade starting to separate. I started looking online and even at local auto parts stores but was surprised to find the blade inserts were not available. Even at Subaru's website, they showed no inventory available for just the rubber blade inserts.

On my next visit to Costco, I saw the Michelin windshield wiper display and used the convenient QR code to connect me to their size-selector. I entered the year, make and model of my wife's vehicle and it indicated the necessary lengths for the passenger and driver's side wind shield wiper blades. Both sizes were available and for the price, it seemed a decent deal to get both for $20 including entirely new wiper arms, too. Installation was easy but it could be confusing to anyone that's not done it before. I try to show the necessary details in my video.

After a little use, I found a black residue line on her windshield from both wiper blades. I had to use isopropyl alcohol to really scrub the marks off her windshield...in fact, I needed to do it multiple times. In hindsight, I should have cleaned both new blades with isopropyl alcohol thoroughly to remove what I presume is a residue from the manufacturing process. Since cleaning them, I've not noticed any further markings on the Subaru's windshield.

Overall, these ‪@MichelinGlobal‬ Guardian wiper blades have performed really well in some seriously hard down-pours as well as light, misty rain conditions. I haven't had a chance to see how they'll perform in cold weather but as Winter approaches us here in Michigan, I'll find out soon enough. These wiper blades seem to feel very beefy so I think they'll match-up just fine with ‪@Subaru‬ stellar Winter performance.
