After my first Ultra Trail race last October at the Javelina Jundred, I got a call from my long time running shoe sponsor Hoka that they wanted to gift me one of their sponsorships Golden Ticket slots into the Western States 100, one of the most iconic trail races in the world. I was beyond excited, humbled, grateful, and so pumped......but I also had only competed in the one trail race and hadn't earned one of the Golden Tickets that were up for grabs that day. So I told Mike from Hoka that I still wanted to try to earn my spot at the start line of Western States and so I signed up for the Black Canyons 100K and raced to earn my spot.
