Palestinian films made for Western audiences often focus on the violence of occupation or the heroism of resistance, but in between the action there are moments to dwell on the importance of fresh bread and hummus, the coldness of a glass of orange juice, the correct way to make maqluba. In this video essay, N.A. Mansour makes the case that these moments are far from incidental, but are records of humour, solace and lively debates, small acts of resistance that show the full texture of Palestinian life.
