"I wrote these three songs in autumn 2023 when I was preparing myself for a major life change. I wanted to work on two long-form pieces using a restricted sound palette of viola (which I hadn't played before), Arturia Minilab synth and voice layering each track in one take without too much planning or pre-thought. I wanted to channel all the different feelings and thoughts I had; writeing one piece that reflected on an aspect of the landscape I was leaving, and one about the land I was moving to.
The last track, The Rescoring, was written similarly quickly and somehow became the piece that ties the project together thematically. Change - as the potential for transformation and the places where that make it possible - the tideline, sacred yew trees, the changing of the seasons, the woodland edge." - Pefkin

Gayle Brogan performs solo under the name Pefkin, creating slowly-unfolding, ritualistic hymnals that draw heavily on the landscape and natural world, using violin, electronics, voice and field recordings.
