Fort Erie was from San Francisco and featured Jason Schwartz on Baritone guitar and vocals, Noah Kuchins on Keyboard, Rich Douthit on Drums, and Patricia Kavanaugh on Guitar and vocals. The band formed in 1999 when Patricia and Jason ended their former projects Blackjackaction and Duende. Rich Douthit played drums in Jargon prior to joining Fort Erie.

The band played in San Francisco and California from 1999-2002 and had one US tour in the summer of 2000. Jason and Rich went on to play with Boxcar Saints. Patricia moved to San Diego and played guitar with The Jade Shader and drums in JAK.

Fort Erie was featured on the Translation, Music compilation in 2001 which also featured: The Rum Diary, Xiu Xiu, The Dropscience and Roots of Orchis.

The five-song album by Fort Erie was recorded in May of 2001 but was never released.
