For most band mills, it is common to rotate the logs toward the left. The side where most of them have their log stops. A problem with that is, on many cuts the blade has to enter on the dirty bark side of the log. It was suggested that I start turning logs in the other direction so the blade can enter on the clean already cut side. There is a band mill called the EZ boardwalk mill that is designed for the blade to enter on the clean already cut side of the log. I try rotating the log in the other direction to show how difficult it would be to do it on the Woodmizer LT15. I was surprised that it was a little easier than I thought. These are Douglas fir logs I am cutting into 1x lumber.
