Tropical Storm Alberto is the first named storm of the 2024 hurricane season after forming in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The NHC said Alberto made landfall around 6:48 a.m. near Tampico, Mexico on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Tropical Storm Alberto was heading into Mexico, but the effects of the storm were being felt all along the Texas coast.
