Raju (Raj Kapoor) an educated, small town lad comes to Mumbai to earn a livelihood. He falls in love with a poor school teacher Vidya (Nargis). He draws the attention of Maya (Nadira) a seductress with his card playing skills. Maya introduces Raj to the world of fraudsters and scamsters and drowns him in wealth and luxury. Can the innocent Vidya pull her dear Raj out of this mess?
