Chona Andrade was a Native American field worker. Alongside her husband, Robert, a Portuguese laborer, she picked grapes to earn a living. The couple did A LOT together, including killing their son-in-law.
In this series, I’m focusing on women who served time in the infamous San Quentin Prison. This is the second installment in that series. The first one was about Bertha Boronda - the woman who went Lorena Bobbitt on her husband in 1907. You can watch that one later.
Today we’re focusing on Chona Andrade and her story will be a little different because I can’t tell you about her crime without telling you about her husband too.
Chona and her husband, Robert Andrade, murdered Jesus Espinosa, their son-in-law at their home in Livermore, CA on September 10, 1916. After reading several articles, I never understood the motive, but this video will tell you what happened and why. It's another Hot Mess History scandal from Ti. Enjoy!
