Two of our most spectacular summer birds just arrived for the season - the Summer Tanager and the Scarlet Tanager. We've had a couple pairs of each over the last few years and I'm hoping for a repeat this year. They're such beautiful birds, with their bright red feathers - and they love the water. A Palm Warbler and Hooded Warbler were the only warblers I got on camera this week. The Northern Parulas are doing a lot of singing, though. And Merlin keeps hearing an Ovenbird, so I hope they're back and we get to see them soon. It's still a little early for warblers. I think the peak for them last year was the first week of May. Spring warbler migration can be kind of hit-or-miss here and seems to come and go very quickly. Completely different from fall migration, when they've consistently arrived and stayed for over a month.
Thanks for watching! Stay safe out there and I'll see you next week!
