"O'Donnell Abú" was written by the Fenian songwriter Michael Joseph McCann in 1843. The title refers to Red Hugh O'Donnell (Aodh Ruadh Ó Domhnaill), who ruled over Tyrconnell during Tyrone's Rebellion, 1593-1603. The title itself is a Gaelic war-cry: “O’Donnell hurrah”.

Performed by Liam Clancy & Tommy Makem, 1977.
