Turkey tail (Trametes versicolor) is a medicinal mushroom that typically grows on logs, stumps, sticks, and snags. This species is not difficult to locate, though several fungi visually resemble turkey tail — including the false turkey tail (Stereum ostrea) and violet toothed polypore (Trichaptum biforme). Both look-alikes are non-toxic.
