THE SLATE ISLES EXPEDITION - SCOTLAND
The Slate Isles lie off the west coast of Scotland just above the island of Jura.
This sea kayaking expedition offers stunning paddling in beautiful wilderness surroundings. It is a superb labyrinth of islands including: Seil, Easdale, Lunga, Luing, Shuna, Belnahua and Torsa.
The weather and tides very much shape our expedition journey’s route. There are extensive sheltered journey options, meaning that any adverse environmental conditions generally don't interfere with a great expedition experience.

Our aim was to have an enjoyable wilderness sea kayaking expedition in an area of tidal currents, superb wildlife and interesting historical sites.
The expedition was self-sufficient and we were wild camping throughout the journey, with the odd bit of fishing and wildlife spotting including potential chances to see eagles, otters and wild boar along the way. On previous trips, teams have managed to paddle close to basking sharks and minke whales. The area contains many exciting paddling challenges including the Corryvreckan and Grey Dogs tideraces.

Whilst we could not control the weather, we made the very best of whatever was thrown at us.

We launched from Craobh Haven (near Oban). They allowed us to camp there the night before the trip and have a great pub on site, the Lord of the Isles.
