East Boston High School is a large and tight-knit “community within a community,” in the words of senior student Matheus. The majority of its 1,276 students are Latinx and live in the surrounding neighborhood. Once on the brink of state takeover, the school has increased its graduation rate by 38 points over the last decade, becoming the only open enrollment high school in Boston with a waitlist for all grades.

Each fall, the School on the Move Prize recognizes some of the most improving Boston Public Schools. EdVestors seeks to shine a light on the schools, leaders, and teachers who create and continuously improve learning environments where all students thrive.
