This is the fourth episode where Edward Stow examines the trail of guilt pointing to Charles Lechmere as being the man known to history as Jack the Ripper. In this episode Edward Stow follows established investigative practices by delving into this suspect's family background to see if Charles Lechmere had an reasons to have grievances or triggers that might have influenced his behaviour. Despite being raised in one of the poorest districts in London, Charles Lechmere had close connections to the landed gentry.

With thanks to Gary Barnett for researching some of the family background details and to Mike Pemberton for the colourisation of the Charles Lechmere photograph.
