Wholesome Things about Workin Moms That You Might Not Be Aware Of (She is Amazing!)

Kate and Nathan are married in real life
Kate (Catherine Reitman) and Nathan (Philip Sternberg) are not just a couple but are behind Wolf + Rabbit Entertainment, the production company which produced the show.
Real life on camera
At the end of episode two, season one, Kate tries to nurse her son who is uninterested because she has been away working. Catherine Reitman (Kate) was, in real life, going through the exact same thing at the time with her son. She uses him for this scene. After a two-week hiatus, he latches on and starts nursing, and this is all on camera.
Kate’s joy on the show is actually a real life reaction.
Where the idea came from
The idea for this series was born when writer and director Catherine Reitman got pregnant and desired to see herself represented in a show. Reitman, who is also one of the lead characters says all the women she saw on television looked perfect, which is far from accurate in real life.
Catherine’s Dad is a veteran film director
Catherine Reitman is the daughter of Ivan Reitman, a celebrated film and television director. He directed eighties film ‘Ghostbusters’ and a host of other popular films.
His daughter had many times pitched show ideas to him but Workin’ Moms was the first real success.
Pro-women team
The Workin’ Moms cast is predominantly female. That would be expected considering the story line. What many don’t know is that Catherine Reitman strives to support women by employing women on the production team. 69% are women.
She says it was difficult for her because most women didn’t have as much experience as men due to a lack of opportunity, but chose to take them on anyway.
Representation of post-partum depression
Catherine Reitman revealed that her motivation to have character Frankie suffer post-partum depression was because of her own real life experience.
However, critics have mentioned that the show illustrates the condition inaccurately, saying what is depicted is closer to postpartum psychosis.

Unrealistic representation
One of the main issues raised by critics of the Workin’ Moms show is that all the women live a very comfortable life. All the women have nannies and are in stable relationships with stay-at-home partners. That is not the case for many working mothers.
Thanks for watching.
