I have replaced the heavy 3.5kg x 4 snatch blocks with four snatch rings coming in at under 2kg in total. The kit is so much lighter and more manageable I can include the winch extension strap and still be well under the original load. Snatch rings work almost as well as the blocks but the blocks are no where near enough better to justify their bulk and weight. I got a lot of valuable information and self-confidence from watching Robert Pepper's channel. He has some superb videos explaining snatch blocks, winching, loads and so much more. There is a slope in my yard and this time I had the car much further up the slope and off the flat so even being a bit lighter than the Freelander 2, it was harder work but still very doable for an old bloke with a massive hernia.
