On January 1, I found out from a friend that the Shenandoah Valley Railroad (SVRR) would be running their leased EMD GP40-2W locomotive for that whole week. The engine is ex-Canadian National, and is especially rare in the eastern United States, as they typically stay on Canadian National’s system in midwestern US and Canada. So the next day, January 2, I chased SVRR from Staunton, VA to Pleasant Valley, VA and back.
