A great of surfing with paddlers from all over the world! I was feeling pretty good out there, learning this new wave in San Juan. I felt that a quad really suited the slower waves at “La Ocho” and so everything I’m riding here is quad. I used a 6’10” in my first heat and and a 7’4” in the second heat. The 6’10” kept a bit more speed through the turns and I felt flowy on it. The 7’4” is the more radical of the two, and I got a little more connection with the lip using that board. Both feel great, so I’ll just make the decision before each upcoming heat as to what I feel like riding. Feel has become so important for me in SUP. If I don’t feel like making a turn somewhere, I’m not going to force it, and while I may lose a few fractions of a point, I hope it will contribute to the overall style I’m looking to portray out there!
