Wieder einmal führte uns ein Urlaub in den Harz und - natürlich - an die Gleise der Harzer Schmalspurbahn. Dort herrscht im Mai 2023 täglich Dampfbetrieb, zum Beispiel auf der Strecke zum Brocken. In Deutschland gibt es keine andere Gegend, wo so viele Dampfloks täglich unterwegs sind. Was die Zukunft bringen wird, ist offen. Sicher aber ist, dass künftig im Sommer mehr Dieselloks im Einsatz sein werden. Also Dampflokfreunde: nichts wie hin, um dieses Dampfmekka noch so zu erleben, wie es viele Jahrzehnte Alltag war.
Once again, a holiday took us to the Harz mountains and - of course - to the tracks of the Harz narrow-gauge railway. There is daily steam operation there in May 2023, for example on the line to the Brocken. There is no other region in Germany where so many steam locomotives are on the move every day. What the future will bring is open. What is certain, however, is that more diesel locomotives will be in service in the summer. So steam locomotive enthusiasts: let's go and enjoy this steam mecca as it was for many decades.
