The American actor, director, and singer best known for playing Norman Bates in Hitchcock's thriller "Psycho" died the previous day at his home in Hollywood. His wife, Berry Berenson, would die 9 years later on 9/11 when the AA Flight she was on crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
