Join me in this week’s film where I’m experimenting with Light and Shadow in Street Photography around Manchester City Centre with my Nikon D5300 and Prime 35mm f1.8 lens.

By its simplest definition Street photography, is a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place so in terms of subject matter there look to be many opportunities and choices. The images may or may not include people and potentially could just consist of objects or the environment where the photographs conveys the city’s personality, a lifestyle or may just simply be of an urban disposition.

But of course, just as with my landscape photography, I need to remain aware of the Subject Matter, Composition, Framing, Lighting and Timing and be cognisant of my camera gear choices and settings preferences.

Today I'm working with the light and shadow to create some contrasting street photography.

Street photography is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places.

Street photography does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. Though people usually feature directly, street photography might be absent of people and can be of an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic.
