We renovated our living room to make room for a wood burning stove. Brad had to knock out previously installed walls and build a hearth pad from tile and a wood frame for the wood stove to sit on. He also built bookshelves which I stained and sealed so that we would have storage for our beloved books! I painted the room to match what we had so far. We still have quite a way to go, but this is part one!
Why are we installing a wood burning stove? Surprisingly, our small brick ranch-turned-cottage has the highest heat bill of all the houses we've lived in. We have many downed trees in our woods and so have plenty of wood to keep our woodpile stocked.
We wanted to get a stove with as low emissions as we could find. We ended up buying a stove from Menards that is efficient and has very low emissions. Our next update on this project will show the final result!
