Shopping for a house and wondering what the term "weeping system" means? In this video I give a quick breakdown of the parts involved in keeping water out of your basement when it comes to the exterior drainage elements.

For anyone who has never seen the drainage system of a home before the foundation is backfilled, hopefully this is helpful. While the term "weeping tile" is somewhat outdated because we now use a perforated plastic pipe rather than clay tiles, the principles are similar. In either case you are providing a path of least resistance for water around your foundation to run down to the footing, into the weeping tile or pipe, and then find its way to a gravity run drainage outlet, or to a sump pump that pumps the water up and away.

I hope you found this video helpful. I plan to keep the construction content like this coming so consider subscribing if you want to tune in for more!
