The Fukuoka Tower is, without doubt, unmistakable with its needle-like shape standing and stretching up to a good 234 meters high and is a strong and admired symbol of the city. The Tower was built in 1989 for the Yokatopia Expo that was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of municipalizing Fukuoka as a city and is Japan’s tallest seaside tower. The observation platform at 123 meters above the ground will offer visitors a 360-degree panoramic view that is breath-taking that spans the city of Fukuoka to Hakata Bay. At night the tower lights up with a beautiful light show that has a theme that periodically changes according to the seasons and across the Tower is the PayPay Dome where you can purchase tickets to watch a game of Baseball and see Fukuoka's favorite team "SoftBank Hawks" play and you just might catch the beautiful Tower illuminations once you leave the dome. Also, while you're inside of the dome you can enjoy a nice romantic dinner with that special someone, there is a restaurant that gives you a great view of the ocean, most of the food as in most cases with this city a big portion of it is locally grown and you can enjoy the freshest quality meals.
You also have in the observation Tower a "lovers lane" corner where you can take a picture and purchase a locket and hang it on a rack with hundreds of others as a lifetime memory that you can also write a small message on the locks. (locks can be purchased inside the observation Tower by the elevators) Between the Fukuoka Tower and PayPay dome is the Hilton "SeaHawk" hotel that also gives you a fantastic window view as well as great service and to finish off the experience is a giant shopping mall called: Mark-IS and with 160 shops at your fingertips there is something for everyone, they even have a Sports gym, a movie theater, and a giant food court.
Access to all three is very easy and from Tenjin or Hakata you can reach them by Subway, Bus or even Taxi.
