On our journey of covering Class 12 English summary of all chapters, we have covered the poem titled “Every Morning I Wake” from our syllabus. The poem was written by Dylan Thomas and is extracted from a radio drama named 'Under the Milk Wood'. The poet has a strong faith on God and he believes in his powers. He makes a prayer of being able to carry all inhabitants of Milk Wood safely. Everyday, he makes his prayer in the morning just after he wakes up and also every evening. He asks God to bless all human beings who are sure to die one day and shower mercy on them.
The poet points out the uncertainty of life in the second stanza. Every evening, he asks God to put his blessing on the town. He explains that there is no guarantee that we might see the next sunrise as life is uncertain. The poet asks God to forgive all the human being and ignore their drawbacks and shortcomings. He asks God to look people’s virtues while judging them.
The poet pays to God to protect people for the night and enable us to see the sunrise again in the last stanza. People always love to see the coming sunrise and never wants to say a final goodbye to the setting sun.
