The Old Catholic Cemetery in Nowra had its first interment in 1845, its last being in 1948. The resting place to many pioneers in the area.
This cemetery has been well kept and maintained, despite time taking its toll on a few of the gravestones, it is a nice place to visit and pay tribute to those who have come before us.

The town it its early days would have seen its share of hardship and struggle, but would also have seen love, unity, family and community spirit come together to become the large prosperous town it is today.

It began with many of those pioneers buried within the fenced grounds of The Old Catholic Cemetery, and also those buried within the Nowra General Est 1875, which I can't wait to go and film sometime soon also.

I do urge you to go and see the cemetery if you are passing through Nowra, the buried may not know you had, but it is a nice place to ponder what life was like back then.

For Australians these old cemeteries are a reminder of those who have come before, The First People had other ceremonies for their loved ones, sadly unknown to many of us today, but we can pay tribute, at least where we can find graves of our early settlers and those who had part in life as we know it in Australia now.
