Beethoven was no slouch. He could say a lot without using too much fluff. His Symphony No.7 makes a perfect platform to workout triads. You can gain a tremendous amount of insight about the fretboard with an exercise like this. Then there's the benefit of playing something beautiful as well.
And FWIW: when you play beautifully, it's WAY easier to justify buying a new guitar :)
