These gigantic anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures are found in the Southern California desert, 0.5 miles West of the Colorado River. The largest is an astonishing 171 ft from head to toe. The zoomorphic figure behind it, appearing to be a horse (although, apparently a mountain lion), is 79 ft across, according to my Google Earth measurements. These are known as geoglyphs, or Intaglios — it's impossible to catch a whole picture apart from the sky.

The humanoid figures represent Mastamho, the Creator of all life (but, according to the Hopi, it could also represent the Fire Clan). The animal figures represent Hatakulya, a mountain lion who took part in creation, according to natives of the lower Colorado River area.
