10 CLASS LOCOS - Update 1. The project to return former South Maitland Railways loco No.18 to steam has started. 10 Class Locos Limited cares for the 1915 loco, and sister engine SMR10, built in 1911. These engines are two of a unique 14 strong fleet built by Beyer-Peacock for the NSW Hunter Valley coalfields. The locos saw service at SMR until June 10, 1983. Four of the engines continued to work on the sister Richmond Vale Railway until 1987.
