Moto Contínuo Farm | Historic Farm in Brazil.

Historical Farm in Porciúncula/RJ, in the locality of Dona Emília, in the Northwest of Rio de Janeiro.
This nineteenth-century rural property (1881), with majestic architecture, is a Fluminense Historical Heritage Site and takes us back to the time when the region was known for its coffee plantations and rural life was the heart of the region's economy.

A farm that was not named after a saint, but a name of the science: Moto Continuous.

This beautiful mansion keeps intact, on all the walls of the rooms, paintings from 1922. Artistic work of more than 100 years made by the painter Funchal.

Another great highlight in its interior are also the antique furniture and sacred art.

The dining table, according to reports from locals, is an 18-seat table made of three entire hardwood planks, with no use of nails or other metal objects in its structure. It was built by Gervasio Calzolarilari.

The writer Neila Ferraz Moreira Nunes mentions the Moto Continuo Farm in her book Antonio Cavalcanti Sobral: Trajectory and Genealogy.

"The Moto Continuo Farm ... was built by Antônio Ferreira, son of Thomáz Ferreira da Fonseca and Afra Ferreira da Fonseca, owners of Fazenda do Serrote, in Laje do Muriaé city. Antonio Ferreira, born engineer, born June 11, 1838, designed the work between 1873 and 1875. It was 6 years of construction, and the woodwork was carried out by French artisans, and the stonework part was delivered to Spaniards.

In this building, materials removed from the site were used. The name Moto Continuo was a choice of the builder to symbolize the continuity of the lives and stories lived by those who lived in that mansion.

Always owned by the Ferreira family, at the beginning of the 20th century, the farm was, for a certain period of time, leased to Dr Antonio Cavalcanti Sobral and Mr. Adriano Galo."

"At the turn of the 20th century, the coffee economy experienced some serious difficulties, such as the excessive increase in production, the result of the rampant expansion of plantations, and the consequent drop in product prices in the international market."

"The place of which consists of a beautiful mansion, endowed with gas lighting, which was a great innovation and a symbol of progress for those times. Its halls are endorsed with paintings made by the painter Funchal".

First owners of The Moto Continuo Farm: Dr. Antônio Ferreira da Fonseca Campos and Dona Emília Simões Ferreira da Fonseca.

Manuel Funchal Garcia was a Brazilian painter and writer. Son of Portuguese Alfredo Garcia Ribeiro and Mariana dos Prazeres Funchal. He was born in Leopoldina on February 3rd, 1889. He died in 1979. He was a student at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios do Rio de Janeiro, where he took drawing and painting classes with César Formenti.

Elephantine Stone with 992 meters high and about 3 million square meters, the Elephantine Stone is the second largest granite massif in the world!

The name Itaperuna originated in the existence of this stone. Thanks to Doctor Francisco Portela, a brazilian doctor and politician who was inspired by Pedra Elefantina.
