Right before Diwali (or Deepavali as it is called in TN), Southern Railways announced a Special Vande Bharat train to cater to the travel needs of passengers during the festive season.

Train : 06056 Tirunelveli - Chennai Vande Bharat Express
Date : 13th Nov 2023 (One Day after Diwali)

The train was completely packed on the day of journey. Unfortunately, its capacity was limited as it was an 8-coach trainset. It was scheduled to run ahead of the Tejas Express to Madurai in the morning from Chennai. In its return, it departed Tirunelveli at 15.00 hrs arriving into Chennai by 23.15 hrs. The train is slightly slower than the regular 20665/20666 Vande Bharat Express between Chennai and Tirunelveli which departs from Tirunelveli in the morning.

The 20665/20666 Chennai Egmore - Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express is India's 28th Vande Bharat Express train, which is running across the state of Tamil Nadu by connecting the cities of Chennai, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar and terminating at Tirunelveli.

The 20665/20666 Chennai Egmore - Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express operates 6 days a week, covering a distance of 650 km (404 mi) in a travel time of 7 hrs 50 mins with average speed of 83 km/h. The Maximum Permissible Speed (MPS) is 110 kmph.

The special train took 8 hrs 15 minutes, which explained the 30 minute early arrival at Trichy, and then a boring 25 minute wait to enter the platform.

Overall, this train is absolutely brilliant and needs to be regularised, with the timings made slightly faster.
