These are the final minutes of the series finale episode "Just Like Old Times: Part 2", the 19th episode (344th overall) from the fourteenth-and final-season of the long-running 1979-93 CBS drama "Knots Landing". The show ran for 14 seasons, the same as its' parent series, the wildly popular 1978-91 drama "Dallas" This episode aired as a special two-hour series finale on the night of Thursday, May 13, 1993

Karen Fairgate McKenzie (Michele Lee, the only actor to appear in every episode) and her second husband Marion Patrick "Mack" McKenzie (Kevin Dobson) are throwing a barbecue to celebrate the return of their best friend, the long-suffering Valene Clements Ewing (Joan Van Ark), who had spent the season kidnapped, but was found alive in this episode. Her three-time husband Garrison "Gary" Ewing (Ted Shackelford, who along with Lee, stayed the entire series, but didn't appear in every episode) goes to help Mack with stuff for the party.

Karen and Val then spy a new couple moving onto the cul-de-sac, apparently buying their first home. Val and Karen smile and are more than likely reminiscing on their first time as new homeowners on the cul-de-sac. Gary returns to see a car pulling up in the front of the house that belonged to former neighbor Claudia Whittaker (Kathleen Noone), the sister of the series male troublemaker Gregory Sumner (William Devane). Val, Mack and Karen also are curious to see who the other new arrival to the block is.

The curiosity turns into a stunned, awkward shock the new arrival steps out of the car and is revealed to be none other than Abby Fairgate Cunningham Ewing Sumner (special guest star Donna Mills), the home-wrecking , gold-digging vixen that raised holy hell-and-eyebrows on the cul-de-sac from 1980 to 1989, and who happens to be the ex-wife of Gary and ex-sister-in-law of Karen.

Abby announces that she heard that Claudia's house was up for sale, which happened to be her old house, so she bought it. Gary is tongue tied as Abby looks at him with her seductive eyes. Val, who already knows Abby's history and has doubts that she changed, quickly grabs Gary's arm, says a polite hello to Abby, before walking into their house (There was no way in hell Val was going to let Gary near Abby for a second).

Abby just smirks and shrugs to a speechless Karen, "just like old times, isn't it?". She smiles at her former-sister-in-law before going into her own house. Mack just shakes his head in quiet amusement. In the last shot of the series, Karen's shocked face looks over at Mack, then to Gary and Val's house before freezing in shock at Abby's house. She then smiles wryly and shakes her head, almost as if to say "here we go again". And life on the cul-de-sac on Seaview Circle comes to end......at least for another four years until the reunion movie.
