Today we're going to talk about something I almost never talk about in public: the monetization of eyeballs, or the "attention economy."

The prevailing wisdom in business tends to be, "get rich quietly." But what kind of contrarian would I be if I followed all the rules? I want to share these strategies because I want to see more business owners in the world. Having skin in the game is not just important for you as an individual, but for the prosperity of a country.

Audience is the new leverage, and leverage is the key to wealth. Throughout history, the barrier to gaining leverage came in the form of controlling labor, capital, or code with the Internet revolution. But social media has democratized our ability to gain leverage by allowing us to gain an audience.

We're already seeing the shift of VC funding from the big four tech giants to the creator economy happening almost overnight. From MrBeast to Ryan Reynolds and Cassey Ho with Blogilates. When you monetize the attention correctly, you can become a titan of industry. Or you can end up in a highly competitive, low-margin market like coffee and chocolate bars.

Over the last few years, I've learned how to gain an audience and turn it into a monetized business. It's an idea I believe in so strongly that I walked away from private equity and a $150 million fund.
