Pattern Day in Kenmare is celebrated on the 15th August each year. One of many Pattern Days in Ireland celebrating the Feast of the Assumption. Falling so soon after Puck Fair you will see many of the same faces selling horses, donkeys, vattle and fowl. It is tradition for the people from the Kenmare area to visit Our Ladys Holy Well to mark the stone next to the Well as a prayer for intentions or for those living away or family members who have died. It is still an active tradition with 3 generation family groups, mainly of women, attending while I was there.
