Today we’re talking about the Korean short film Human Form. It takes place in South Korea where the norm is to have a face created by plastic surgery. Smooth skin, a V-line face, an upturned nose, and no wrinkles – sounds like an Instagram beauty filter. The main character is one of the only people without work done and feels isolated – she tries to figure out how to fit in. I thought it was an interesting perspective since social media, TikTok, and popular celebrities are starting to shape the way we see beauty standards and plastic surgery. Last week I stumbled down another rabbit hole of people getting a lot of cosmetic procedures done at a time and thought about what our future might look like in the next 100 years or so.
