Well, the Boston Celtics have now officially taken a 2-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals vs the Dallas Mavericks. And after what we just witnessed in game 2 of Celtics Mavs, many believe the Celtics should not have come away with the victory. However, they did. And undeniably the biggest reason as to why they now have a 2-0 lead heading to Dallas for Game 3, is solely because of their backcourt in both Jrue Holiday and Derrick White.

The Celtics offense revolved around both Jrue Holiday and Derrick White in this game. And with the complimentary help of Jayson Tatum from time to time, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, etc, Joe Mazzulla stuck to what was working in feeding the backcourt consistently, whether that was near the rim or on the perimeter.

Then there’s also the Celtics defense, which was phenomenal again starting with the duo of Derrick White and Jrue Holiday. And along with this, the help of Porzingis, Al Horford, JT, JB, and even Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard off the bench, the Celtics have held the Dallas Mavericks to under 100 points in both NBA Finals games thus far. And now, we’ll have to see if that trend continues in Game 3 of the NBA Finals Wednesday.
