TARPON SPRINGS — The Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble was named Grand Champion at the 2017 Bands of America Super Regional in Atlanta.

In the preliminary competition, Tarpon Springs won 2A Class Champions honors with a score of 91.750. It also received the awards for Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

In Super Regional competition, held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the 12 highest scoring bands advance to the finals round. Tarpon Springs won the finals round, earning the Grand Champion title with a score of 92.250.

The Outdoor Ensemble also received the awards for Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

The Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble is the most accomplished marching band in Florida. In Super Regional competition, Tarpon Springs has won Grand Champion 11 times and 2A Class Champion 22 consecutive times.

The Outdoor Performance Ensemble is part of the Tarpon Springs High School Leadership Conservatory for the Arts, a nationally recognized program that provides an integrated, seamless curriculum in academics, instrumental music, technology and leadership skills.
