Debates over "efficiency" and standards for gameplay discussions have been going on for over 15 years now, and we have yet to see legitimate progress be made in resolving any of the resulting issues. Regardless of your previous experience in the community, I ask that you give the topic serious consideration, so that we can move past the miscommunications of the past and work towards creating a more agreeable, inclusive space for all players.
My recommendations for accomplishing this resolution are:
1. Restrict direct comparisons to playstyles that have a calculated metric of success
2. Expand and open up new avenues for non-comparative gameplay discussions that allow for more players to participate
3. Be careful that value judgements ("bad", "optimal") actually apply the context of the discussion
If you are interested in any of my suggestions for new discussion formats, or have an idea of your own, let me know! There's a lot untapped potential for gameplay discussions, and I would love to see everyone have a chance to contribute their unique experiences and skill.
