We planned a quick weekend visit to Sri Mallikarjuna swamy temple in Srisailam and wanted to get maximum out of it. Started from Bangalore at 8am ( a little late than planned departure) by my car ( i20 petrol ) and around 1pm we reached Kurnool (370 Kms ) from NH7 (This travel time includes breakfast a Mc Donalds which is just before Kempegowda Airport Toll plaza.

You have to take right from Kurnool and from there Srisailam is almost 180kms.Road quality is superb even its single lane (|||) you can drive easily at 70-80kmph.
Our target was to reach on time because the after 6pm there in no entry due to Rajiv Gandhi Tiger Reserve Limitations. Last 45kms is hilly road but very well laid and maintained which makes driving very comfortable. Around 6pm we checked into Pathalesawara Sadanam after freshning up we went for walk near the temple and did some basic shopping and came back around 9pm after having dinner.

Next day early morning is what we planned to leave for darshanam but because small kid was with us we managed to leave at around 8am :)

It was Sunday so there was little crowd that why however we have taken Abhishekam tickets(INR 200/couple) it took us almost 90mins for darshanam.

Then we completed our breakfast outside and went for Rope way ride and by 1:30 pm we left from Srisailam, around 10:30pm we were back in Banagalore.

Overall trip was superb, roads are awesum which makes this long journey enjoyable & full of fun.

Few tips for the trip :

1. Make sure you have food packed from home otherwise there is nice AC restaurant names CHAKRAM right after you crosss Kurnool town (almost 6 hours from Bangalore), we had our lunch here while coming back and it was good.

2. Never ever take the other route from Kadapa as the road quality is horrible( based on reviews and feeback from friends I avoided ), the NH7 will be costly as multiple toll plazas will be there, but its worth the money spent. It will cost total INR 500/side including all the tolls from Bengaluru to Kurnool, after that no tolls and same money while coming back.

3.Books your stay and darshanam tickets in advance as there are not much options once you reach there. Pathaleswara Sadanam was one of the good ones with AC, Geyser and spacious rooms. One room + hall will costs you INR 800 and enough for 4 people, there is a double cot and one single bed is also attached to it by default.

4.There are not many good places for food around Mallikarjunam Temple, however HOTEL APOORVA is a exception where you will get good hot and fresh
meals and other items at reasonable price.

4. Last but not the least While you go for ROPEWAY make sure you have enough time, because we took the tickets(INR60) and went down towards the Srisialm Dam via ROPEWAY, it took almost 5 mins to reach down and not much rush was there while going down and we were happy .
However once you reach the other side of ropeway you realize you did a blunder because atleast more than 150 people were waiting to come up/back from the other side and you have 2 options either go for boat ride I think it was INR 150/person and further delay you return. Because other boats will also come by the time you will go and come back and return time increases further. We spent almost 1.5 hours standing in the queue just to come back from ropeway that too by avoiding boat ride. If travelling with kids or senior citizens please avoid.
