On Friday, the central government granted approval for the acquisition of 12 Su-30MKI fighters, commonly referred to as "Flankers," to bolster the Indian Air Force's fighter capabilities. This decision comes in response to the declining fighter strength of the Indian Air Force. Notably, these aircraft will be produced within India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and will incorporate a substantial 60% indigenous component, as highlighted in a government press release. These new Su-30MKIs will represent the most advanced additions to the Indian Air Force's fleet, which already comprises more than 250 such aircraft. The acquisition of these aircraft will help address the gap created by the loss of 12 Su-30MKI fighters in accidents over recent years. The Centre on Friday appointed special director Rahul
