Why for 25 years has the name of France been associated with the Rwandan tragedy? The role of the French state, supporting the Hutu regime of Juvénal Habyarimana in its war against the Tutsi rebellion of the Rwandan Patriotic Front, the RPF, is far from clear. French governments have rejected any responsibility for the genocide, while admitting that "political errors" may have been made which prevented or stopped the genocide. For the first time, senior officers of the French army, politicians, speak on camera, key witnesses of Operation Turquoise, a military and humanitarian mission against which serious accusations have been made.
