When comparing EL Wire with Laser Wire®, EL seems like it's much cheaper at first glance. However taking a closer look reveals EL Wire actually might be more expensive over time.

If you want to see a breakdown of the cost, please see the links below to show how the pricing (as of July 2018) was calculated:

EL Wire 50ft KIT (Rated for 4-6k hours)
50ft of EL Wire x $1.35 = $67.50
Jumbo Inverter + AC Adapter = $47.98
Initial TOTAL = $115.48
If you use the kit for 20k hours, or about 4.5 years, the cost of the EL Wire only being replaced is $202.50 extra. In our experience, the Jumbo inverter is not rated to withstand 20k hours, and needs to be replaced every 5-10k hours. This low cost alternative to the MEGA series (Jumbo Inverter) is our best case scenario to give an accurate depiction of both products. If we replace only one for the lifespan we are referring to (20k hours), then it would add $34.99 to the overall cost, putting the current 4.5yr total to: $352.97

The Laser Wire system we do not expect to have to replace over the same period of time, therefore the current pricing as of July 2018 is $335
