Jonathan Drew Groff is an American actor and singer. He is a two-time nominee for the American theater award Tony in Best Actor in a Musical and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical categories. Jonathan is also a Grammy Award winner in the Best Musical Theater Album category for his role in the musical about Alexander Hamilton. Groff is best known for his performances in Broadway musicals, as well as his roles in the series Glee, Looking, and Mindhunter. Groff was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in the family of a gym teacher and horse trainer. He made his Broadway debut in 2005, after which he won the lead role in the musical Spring Awakening. For this role, Jonathan was nominated for a Tony Award in the Best Actor in a Musical category, at 22 becoming one of the youngest contenders the history. He made his big screen debut in the 2009 film Taking Woodstock. In early 2007, Groff made his television debut with a supporting role on the ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live. In 2012, he starred in the second season of the series The Boss, and then voiced one of the main characters in the commercially successful animated film Frozen. Creel made his Broadway debut in 2002 in the leading role of Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie before starring as Claude in the 2009 Broadway revival of Hair, both Tony Award-nominated performances.
